Community Interests
Hearts 1st actively supports their staff in pursuing their own community interests and passions. Hearts 1st staff have been involved in the following events over the past few years:
Kokoda Challenge
A 96km cross-country endurance event incorporating 12 creek crossings and 5000 metres of vertical elevation held at the Gold Coast Hinterland. The event raises awareness of the importance of the 1942 Kokoda Campaign and the ideals of mateship, endurance, courage and sacrifice. Hearts 1st entered a team in the 2010 and 2012 Kokoda Challenge raising over $3500 for Kokoda Challenge Youth Program. Hearts 1st will be tackling the Kokoda Challenge once again in 2014.
Gatorade Triathlon Series
Hearts 1st entered a team in the Raby Bay Tri in Oct 2013 consisting of 400 metre swim, 15km bike and 4km run.
Movember
Hearts 1st staff have participated in the Movember challenge where men are asked to grow a moustache for the 30 days of November, raising funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancers and mental health.
