FAQ

To be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate from the government you need to be both registered with Medicare and have a current referral. A referral from your GP will remain current for 12 months and a referral from your specialist will remain current for 3 months. An appointment is required.

Please remember to bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Referral letter
  • Medicare, Pension card or DVA Card
  • Private Health Insurance membership card
  • List of current medications
  • Previous images related to your cardiac condition

Generally it is advisable for ladies to wear a two-piece outfit for convenience. Comfortable walking shoes and clothes are recommended for patients undergoing exercise stress testing. There are no other special requirements for clothing.

The time taken largely depends on the type of appointment. For more information view the test you have been referred for.

Outpatients
Our receptionist will explain the cost of your visit at the time of booking. Payment is expected on the day. We accept cash or credit card (excluding Diners). Gold card DVA patients are covered fully by DVA. Please note that Private Health Insurance funds do not cover fees for outpatient services.

Inpatients
Hearts 1st cardiologists accept the reimbursement provided by patient’s private health insurance fund as payment in full for any In Hospital services, so there is NO GAP to pay. Self-funded patients can claim a portion of their account from Medicare.

Greenslopes

Generally (with most test types) and for referring doctors who receive their results electronically they will be available the same day, however in busy times this could take a little longer. Other doctors may prefer their patient’s results be posted.
